Dr. Ho talks about the common causes of blindness and visual impairment, including preventable and treatable diseases. We talk about the impact of myopia and its increasing prevalence. Next, Dr. Ho makes a case for why eye health should be included in universal health coverage as it is crucial for the overall well-being of individuals. She explains the economic impact of vision impairment and outlines the guidelines available to reduce the visual impairment. We discuss how these plans are being implemented and how we can improve vision care quality and availability. We review the ten key messages from the Lancet Commission report. After reviewing all the work that has been done, we talk about the success of the original plan. We learn about the disparity in the availability of health care providers in different areas of the world.
